Edna Hibel (1917–2014) was an American painter and lithographer celebrated for her warmly expressive, Impressionist-influenced depictions of mothers, children, and figures from cultures around the world. At just 23, she became the youngest artist at the time to have a work acquired by a major American museum when the Boston Museum of Fine Arts purchased one of her paintings. She is best known for her Mother and Children series, drawing inspiration from Mary Cassatt and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. Over her 60+ year career, her work was exhibited in more than 20 countries and collected under the royal patronage of figures including Prince Rainier of Monaco and Queen Elizabeth II. A beloved and prolific artist, her pieces remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
